Jody Stelzig

Jody Stelzig was a champion Intercollegiate and Professional Rodeo cowboy before getting his start in the film business. Qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo and Texas Cowboys Rodeo Association Finals Several times in the Bareback Riding event led him to his introduction doing horse work in films, later branching out to several different areas of stunt work involving not only horses, but fight scenes, wire work, wagons, and utility stunts. Some of his highlights have included working with such industry professionals as: Dick Ziker, Tad Griffith, Rex Peterson, Jackson Burns, and Mark Brooks to name a few. Jody makes his home in Texas and maintains a horse ranch, while still team roping every chance he gets, and coordinating Livestock and rolling stock on films.

Jody served as Livestock Coordinator, Head Wrangler, and Stunt Coordinator on the recent 2013 multi-festival winning film by director Chris Eska. “The Retrieval” is showing in the USA, France, Germany, and Greece.

​

Most recently Jody was the Stunt Coordinator on the Feature Film “Rudderless” Directed by William H. Macy, and Starring Billy Crudup (whom Jody doubled for), Lawrence Fishburne, and Selena Gomez.

​

In November of 2015 Jody served as Stunt Coordinator on the western feature “The Scent of Rain and Lightning” Starring Brad Carter and Will Patton (“The Postman”).  Jody has put the first quarter of 2016 dedicated to the filming of “Cruzado”, and the first half on 2017 on the feature documentary “King Fisher”, while finding time in between to serve as stunt coordinator on the period western film “Painted Woman”, directed by James Cotten.

Jody was cast in 2016 as “Rowdy” a happy go lucky cowboy on the live traveling show “The Old Chisholm Trail” performing with his horse for thousands each year.  Jody was also cast as the mounted cowboy in the Rico’s corporation commercial for their new line of tortilla chips called “Texan Original” sold in grocery stores nationwide.

Recently in 2017 Jody was one of two featured western models for the Nikon Camera Corporation’s “Master Series” workshops. In early 2018 Jody was named head armorer on HBO’s SXSW activation of “WESTWORLD” in Austin, Texas.

​

In January of 2019 Stelzig served as the main stunt rigger on the feature film “Tasmanian Devil” shot in east Texas.

​

Jody continues to entertain over 200,000 guests each year at Texas’s largest Christmas theme park; Santa’s Wonderland, where he uses Western Stage Props products exclusively.
